Hong Kong-based photographer Andy Yeung captures the bustling metropolis of his hometown, and this particular gallery places an emphasis on the Kowloon Walled City — originally a Chinese military fort and once a largely-ungoverned densely-populated settlement that included hundreds of houses stacked on top of each other enclosed in the center of the structure.

Finally demolished in the 1990s, the city’s modern site plan is showcased in these beautiful drone imagery that depicts many of the current high density housing apartments where the only view outside is towards their neighbor’s window.

Further raising awareness about the claustrophobic living in Hong Kong from a new perspective, these mesmerizing images that almost reflect an optical illusion also display the incredible symmetry and architectural splendor of Hong Kong’s megastructures.
